Digital diplomacy gets new momentum at the Royal Norwegian Embassy, as Amb. Aas is reaching out to American students via the Embassy’s Virtual Ambassador Program (VAP). Via Skype, the Ambassador has had discussions with hundreds of students from universities all across the United States, including the University of California–Berkeley, the University of North Dakota and the University of Alabama at Birmingham, just to name a few.

VAP is a new Embassy initiative, where the Ambassador invites universities to participate in an online interactive dialogue and to learn more about Norway’s policies on topics such as the Arctic and NATO. During the sessions, the students are encouraged to ask the Ambassador questions via Twitter.

Since the kickoff in September, the Ambassador has held sessions with ten U.S. universities, and is looking forward to adding more to the list in the year to come. For more information, or if your university is interested in participating in the program, please contact anne.charlotte.lindblom@mfa.no
