Digital Diplomacy Week for Indonesian Senior Diplomats

The Senior Diplomatic Course –also referred to as “Sesparlu”– is held for three months consisting of learning modules that strengthen Leadership and Management skills. On the 29th and 30th of September 2015 the Digital Diplomacy Module was held in cooperation with the CSIS Jakarta and included presentations from various business and Government officials such as Transportation Minister Ignasius Jonan, Head of the Presidential Delivery Unit for Development Monitoring and Oversight (UKP4) Kuntoro Mangkusubroto, as well as the Executive Director of Lippo Group John Riady. Also present were leaders from various companies and leading institutions such as Nanyang Technological University, GoJek, Intel Corporation, Tokopedia, and the University of Indonesia.

 

The first day began with the keynote speech by Dr Darmawan Prasodjo, the Deputy on Monitoring and Evaluation of the Indonesian President’s Office. The first session on The Role of Machine Learning Towards a Knowledge-Based Economy highlighted four speakers: Raoul Oberman from Endeavor, Kusumo Martanto from Blibli.com and Rama Mamuaya from Dailysocial. Meanwhile the second session of the same theme showcased Prof Kuntoro Mangkusubroto and Dr Sulfikar Amir from the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.

 

The second theme of the day was Social Interaction and Movies Diplomacy, with speakers Razi Thalin from Setipe.com, Lavesh Samtani from 13 Entertainment,  Nadiem Makarim from GoJek. All moderators throughout this day were CSIS officials.

 

The second day will start with Indonesia’s Transportation Ministry Ignasius Jonan talking about “Making Change Happen in State Owned Enterprises”, moderated by Philips J. Vermont as the Head of the Department of Politics and International Relations of the CSIS Jakarta. Since his days at the helm of Indonesia’s State Railways, Jonan introduced sweeping changes that not only brought discipline to the company but also gave customers unprecendeted levels of convenience and comfort.

 

The following sessions on E-commerce will showcase panel discussions with Rini Hasbi from the Intel Corporation, CEO of “Tokopedia” William Tanudjaja, and Co-Founder of “Ideosource” Andi Boediman, and Lippo Group Executive Director John Riady.

 

During the “Tweets from the Top” segment, the Director of the Indonesian Foreign Ministry’s Senior Diplomatic Training Odo Manuhutu will moderate discussions by the two Ambassadors: His Excellency Moazzam Malik of the United Kingdom and His Excellency Stig Traavik of Norway.

 

In the next session called “Ideas Matter!” the speakers scheduled are Roby Muhammad from the University of Indonesia, Anton Soeharyo from TouchTen, Vikra Ijas from Kitabisa.com, and Arief Widyasah from Agate Studio. The Closing Session on “Local Music, Local Love” will feature Wisnu Surjono from Universal Music Indonesia.
