Digitalna diplomatija nastavlja da se razvija u svetu. Korišćenje društvenih mreža postaje uobičajena aktivnost savremenih svetskih diplomata. Ali tu se ne završava njihovo nastojanje da u komunikaciji sa građanima drugih zemalja dele i brane svoje stavove, ideje i vrednosti svojih zemalja. Pravi primer za to je norveški ambasador u SAD g-din Kare R. Aas, koji

Korišćenje društvenih mreža postaje uobičajena aktivnost savremenih svetskih diplomata.
Ali tu se ne završava njihovo nastojanje da u komunikaciji sa građanima drugih zemalja dele i brane svoje stavove, ideje i vrednosti svojih zemalja.
Pravi primer za to je norveški ambasador u SAD g-din Kare R. Aas, koji već nekoliko puta, u unapred dogovoreno vreme ima debate sa studentima američkih univerziteta.

Norveška započela program virtuelnih ambasadora
Ambasada Kraljevine Norveške u SAD ustanovila je program komunikacije sa američkim studentima putem programa viretuelnog ambasadora ( VAP, Virtual Ambassador Program ).
Putem SKYPEa ambasador je već diskutovao sa stotinama studenata šitom SAD, poput Berkley univerziteta u Kaliforniji i univerziteta Alabama u Birmingenu.
U okviru Programa, ambasador poziva fakultete da učestvuju na interaktivnom ONLINE dijalogu kako bi saznali više o raznim temama norveške politike, poput odnosa sa NATOM ili stavova o Arktiku, na primer. Tokom ovih dijaloga, studenti mogu postavljati pitanja ambasadoru i putem Tvitera.
Od septembra 2014. godine Virtuelni ambasador je imao razgovore u deset američkih univerziteta i namerava da ovaj program intenzivira.

Ideja o virtuelnim diplomatama i cyber ambasadama nije nova.
Isprobale su je SAD i Izrael, radi komunikacije sa sredinama i stanovništvom sa onim zemljama sa kojima nemaju diplomatske odnose.
Krajem 2011. godine SAD su otvorile Virtuelnu ambasadu u Teheranu, sa kojim nemaju diplomatske odnose.

Želeli su da na ovaj način dopru do građana Irana, koji ‘’ otvoreno i bez straha žele da razgovaraju o američkoj kulturi, politici, i američkom narodu ‘’. Ovo je trebalo da bude samo jedan od načina kako je State Department nameravao da probije blokadu koju su iranske vlasti nametnule u elektronskom prostoru.

Iako su je iranske vlasti blokirale na izvesno vreme, ova sajber ambasada radi non stop i pruža pored političkih i konzularne informacije iranskim građanima.

Vizuelno i sadržajno identičnu Cyber ambasadu, SAD imaju i u Siriji.
Izrael je sredinom 2013. godine otvorio svoju virtuelnu ambasadu, u stvari Tviter nalog za komunikaciju sa narodom Saudijske Arabije, Katara, Emirata, Omana, Kuvajta i Bahreina.

Velika IT korporacija Intel, u sklopu svog obrazovnog projekta predvidela je program za edukaciju virtuelnih ambasadora.
